Earll Pott Appointed to Adjunct Faculty at the California Western School of Law Starting this fall, Earll Pott will join five other adjunct professors in teaching Cal Western's innovative STEPPS program (Skills Training for Ethical and Preventive Practice and career Satisfaction). Now in its fourth year, STEPPS seeks to simulate a small law firm environment for students to train them in professional responsibility, legal research and writing, case planning, and a variety of other lawyering skills. Earll expects to draw on his rich background in criminal and legal malpractice defense as well as the experience he gained in supervising young lawyers at the San Diego County Public Defender's Office. Criminal Defense Bar Association and Criminal Defense Lawyer's Club of San Diego Extends Kudos to Coughlan, Semmer & Lipman LLP August 31, 2010 – SAN DIEGO, CA – The CDBA-CDLC Newsletter recently extended kudos to Jerry Coughlan and Earll Pott for "extraordinary work" in obtaining a dismissal for one of their clients. The kudos to Coughlan and Pott came from their representation of Ron Saathoff in the San Diego Pension Board conflict of interest case. The prosecution, which dates back to May of 2005, had numerous twists and turns, including a 995 motion, a Petition to the Fourth District Court of Appeal, and even the California Supreme Court. In an effort to bring resolution to their client, after five long years of prosecution, Jerry and Earll had requested the opportunity to present the case to the District Attorney and members of the prosecution team. One day after making that presentation, the District Attorney dismissed the case in its entirety against Mr. Saathoff. The CDBA-CDLC Newsletter was extremely complimentary, noting Jerry and Earll's "great legal work in a charged political environment."
